ABSTRACT
This study compared the total production of bangus stocked alone against bangus culture stocked with common carp and Thai hito. About 18 ponds measuring 0.1 ha were used. Nine of the ponds received chicken manure together with 16-20-0 NPK fertilizer on platform and the other nine received only 0-20-0 NPK fertilizer. Three in each fertilizer treatments were stocked with bangus only, bangus and Thai hito, and bangus and carp fingerlings. Carp and hito fingerlings were stocked at the rate of 1000/ha while bangus at 3000/ha. Results showed a mean net production of 245 kg/ha for all ponds. In the three ponds with bangus only, treated with combined fertilizer, the mean net production was 285.2 kg/ha. Production in the different fertilizer treatment was obscured by the presence of many wild tilapia in six of the phosphorus only-treated ponds. On the average, bangus ponds stocked with carp gave a higher net production than ponds with bangus and hito or hito alone.
